OPT FOR TREATMENT WITHCLEAR ALIGNERS

Many systems are available in the orthodontic market today. The pioneering system, Invisalign, was introduced 25 years ago by the American company Align Technology. It has been available in Poland for over 5 years and is, of course, offered at our clinic. Treatment with clear aligners (trays) could be exactly what you're looking for.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

After the dentition is scanned with a 3D scanner, a three-dimensional virtual model of the teeth is generated. The orthodontist, in collaboration with technicians, then creates a virtual set-up. This process generates a simulation of tooth movement, progressing week by week and aligner by aligner, until the desired final position is achieved. Based on this virtual plan, the necessary series of aligners is fabricated, with each aligner designed to guide the teeth through specific, incremental movements.

CLEAR ALIGNERSWEARING AND FUNCTION

The patient receives numbered and labeled aligners, which are to be worn for 22 hours per day, and removed only for eating and oral hygiene procedures. Being virtually invisible due to their transparency, these aligners gradually move the teeth into their correct positions. This occurs incrementally, a fraction of a millimeter at a time, guiding the teeth from their initial state to the final planned position.

No discomfort icon

Does not cause discomfort or potential abrasions and sores to the oral mucosa

Speech icon

Does not impede speech or other functions of the tongue

Teeth protection icon

Protects the dentition from the effects of bruxism

Artificial surfaces icon

Can be used in dentitions, in which there are numerous artificial surfaces

Time icon

Treatment is almost half as short as traditional braces

No metal components icon

No metal components – eliminates the possibility of allergies, no contraindications for magnetic resonance imaging

ALIGNERS: STEP BY STEP

  1. ORTHODONTIC APPOINTMENT

You schedule an appointment with the orthodontist

  2. INTERVIEW, IMAGING, AND DIAGNOSTICS

Following the patient interview and clinical examination, two X-ray images will be taken: one lateral head X-ray (known as a cephalometric X-ray) and one panoramic X-ray of your dentition. Subsequently, an intraoral 3D scanner will be used to perform a scan of your teeth, creating a virtual model. Based on these diagnostic records, the orthodontist will accurately assess the specific problems to be addressed and determine the appropriate course of treatment to achieve proper occlusion.

  3. VIRTUAL DENTAL MODEL

The orthodontist, in collaboration with the technician, creates a virtual model of the dentition, illustrating the tooth alignment upon completion of treatment. Digital orthodontics represents the latest technique for planning tooth movements.

  4. ALIGNER PREPARATION

Upon the patient's acceptance of the treatment plan and cost estimate, the aligners will be manufactured. The total number of aligners depends on the complexity of the malocclusion.

  5. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALIGNER USE AND TREATMENT

The subsequent appointment involves the delivery of the aligners to the patient, along with detailed instructions on their use. Attachments, made of composite material color-matched to the teeth to ensure minimal visibility, will also be bonded to select teeth. The purpose of these attachments is to enhance the retention of the aligners on the teeth and to optimize the force and direction of their action on specific teeth. To expand treatment capabilities for more complex malocclusions, features for intermaxillary elastics (similar to those used with fixed appliances) may be incorporated into the aligners, and adjuncts such as microimplants may also be utilized. The aligners must be worn for 22 hours per day and changed for the next set, typically on a weekly basis, by the patient themselves.

  6. MONITORING TREATMENT PROGRESS

Throughout the entire treatment process, it is possible to make adjustments to the planned direction of individual tooth movements or to the overall treatment plan, should the need arise, at no additional cost to the patient.

  7. SECURING RESULTS WITH RETENTION ALIGNERS (RETAINERS)

Upon completion of the active treatment phase and the removal of attachments, the teeth are cleaned, and retention appliances (retainers) will be fabricated, similar to those used following treatment with fixed appliances.
